Compendium of Curiosities, Challenge 7

So  challenge 7 is painted industrial!!!  I love industrial, steampunk, manly scrapbooking, i have never been a girly girly so this style of scrapbooking suits me perfect.  Here is my take on painted industrial-

I wanted to blend, soft and feminine with industrial (okay may be a little girly)

i started with a printed image from Alphonse Mucha (basically the starter of the art nouveau movement, love his art) then i painted it using a water pen with distress ink.  I started really light then darker to give depth.

next i cut out a frame for the picture, a base (right side) and the top (left side).  I didn`t want it to flat so i cut a 0.5`border around outside and in arc on top, then i scored a 0.25" and folded into shape so the frame stands a 0.25" tall.

i covered the frame with painted industrail (compendium of curosities volume 3 pg. 46).  I added 0.25" strips of black cardstock along outside and inside edge.

And finally i layered together painted picture and frame.  Finished with.... what else GEARS.

  2. Glenda...this is beautiful! I love the way you've created your own shadow box effect with the tag! Very cool! Your maiden is so beautiful colored. She is so soft and feminine and I love how you've mixed her with the much more heavy masculine feel of Tim's painted industrial frame around her. That is such a cool contrast and it WORKS! Your technique looks fabulous and the addition of the little metal gears at the bottom really balances all of the flowers around her lovely face so perfectly. Thanks for sharing your art with us at CC3C. <3 Candy
